Stargate Observatory, Kausani
Situated in the state of Uttarakhand that Mahatma Gandhi lovingly called the "Switzerland of India", our first private observatory was opened in 2016. Guided by our friendly and highly experienced StarGuide, and equipped with a fantastic 8” computerised GoTo telescope, you can explore the wonderful view of the Universe.

As the Sun sets over Himalaya is usually ablaze with golden and orange hues and as the sky turns dark we at Stargate are ready with our telescopes and experienced Starguide opens a gateway to take you to the farthest reaches of the visible universe. A GoTo robotic telescope Celestron 8” is right hardware for this voyage to explore from lunar craters, highlands and ‘Mare’ or lava flooded plains. Daily dance of Jupiter’s Galilean moons, the beauty of rings of Saturn will spellbound you. There is a lot to explore beyond our solar system like star clusters, stellar nurseries like Orion Nebula or even beyond our galaxies like Andromeda galaxy
Daytime Solar Observation:
In the daytime, you can book a solar observation session and observe the sun through the telescope. We have got a completely safe as a par IOA specification professional Solar filter to be attached with our telescope. You can interact with our expert and watch an informative video based on the studies of Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, Solar Dynamic Observatory and Stereo Mission.
Kausani is famous for its vast panoramic views of Himalayas. One can watch peaks like Chowkhamba, Nanda Ghunti, Trishul, Nanda Devi, Nanda Khat, Nanda Kot, Panchachuli etc. Enjoy closeup views of snowcapped Himalayan range with our terrestrial telescope. You can also take photos of the peak with your mobile phone through the telescope
Experience the night sky of Kausani in the midst of the jungle with an astronomy expert. We offer you an uncontaminated view of night sky away from the lights of the town. Our Starguide will conduct a laser-assisted constellation show. It's also a great opportunity to enjoy the night time ambiance of the jungle.
At Stargate we have interactive displays about the solar system, constellations, Universe, Space science, models of space ships and space missions that are open to Public for free.

How to reach
From Delhi catch overnight buses to Haldwani or Kathgodam railways station. From there private or shared taxi can be booked and it takes about approximately 5 hours you to Kausani.
Flights are available till Delhi or Pantnagar remaining leg of the journey is to be completed by road.
By Train + Road:
Take Shatabdi Express that starts in the morning from New Delhi to Kathgodam or take many overnight trains to Kathgodam or Haldwani from Old Delhi Railway station and continue to Kausani by road.
